JKD/Wing Chun Kung Fu Classes

We are pleased to provide the concepts and principles as taught by Sifu Francis Fong and Guro Dan Inosanto. The importance of having brought both the Wing Chun and JKD within the Academy adds to our dedication and commitment to teaching these Arts to the community at a high level.

Reflex Speed, Coordination and Power

Wing Chun Kung Fu is a Chinese-based system taught under the guidance of Sifu Francis Fong that specializes in developing dynamic, explosive, powerful and street-oriented practical self-defense. A system designed to work on development of leverage principles and concepts to overcame and opponent. The system taught supports the development of reflex speed, coordination and power to enable someone to quickly and effortlessly disable a larger and stronger opponent without relying on muscle mass or size. Students utilize the various tools to support their learning experience:

  • Wooden dummy
  • Footwork
  • Punching & kicking
  • Trapping
  • Focus mitts
  • Two-man drills
  • Energy Drills

JKD

JKD is a system developed by the late Bruce Lee that is based on fighting concepts and principles, physical training, strategy, core techniques, and most importantly philosophy. It is not a style to be preserved, but experienced, and therefore the study of one self.
Emphasizing the various ranges of attack, students start out learning the following fundamentals:

  • Footwork
  • Jabs & basic punching
  • Hand combinations
  • Kicking and kick defenses
  • Hand trapping

Understanding oneself, joint assessment of technical ability, and shear dedication are prerequisites that will aid the student in his quest for increasing his potential. To be a well-rounded fighter, one must possess the ability to intuitively and instinctively employ the elements of mind and body in a combative situation. In a fight, you do not have the luxury of thought and therefore your fighting skills must be preparatory in nature.

Training and learning under Guro Dave has been a truly fantastic experience. He is very considerate of individual skill level and will make sure anyone, even absolute beginners, feel welcome. I’ve been training here for about eight months and have learned a ton about self defense, situational awareness and even my own personal development. Overall a great place to train!

I was a complete beginner to this process and had never practiced martial arts prior to working with Guru Dave and his instructors. Being in my mid-thirties, I was apprehensive about my physical ability with such a demanding program. That being said, I have looked forward to coming to every class. I have learned a tremendous amount and enjoy the continued opportunity to learn more! I highly recommend this place!

Awesome martial arts school! Everyone is so welcoming and helpful. Guru David has so much knowledge and experience in multiple arts. I think a true blend of arts is the best thing you can find and this is possible at this school because of the vast knowledge that Guru David has, even though you study each art individually. I really look at the group as a family. I learn so much and have so much FUN! I would recommend to anyone out there no matter their experience.

Love this place! I have been coming here for about a month now and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The class sizes are relatively small with a variety of skill levels from beginners to advanced. Everyone is friendly and eager to help you learn. Guro Dave is amazing, He takes the time to introduce you to everyone and help beginners get acclimated with the basics. I was nervous at first, but after being in that environment for one class I have no problem going back.
