Mission Statement
The Midwest Academy of United Martial Arts and the Armas De Mano Filipino Arts Academy are dedicated to provide services in the instruction of martial arts using traditional and non-traditional approaches to the learning process. While there are many martial arts schools in the industry, we pursue a different strategic path to give us our own identity, business emphasis, and path for development. We recognize that a service becomes a business when it satisfies the needs of the customer. Without the need or want there is no business. Therefore, we take our students seriously and will provide them with the highest levels of training necessary.
We promote innovation and broaden the range of study to adapt to changing conditions. This allows us to produce some of the finest practitioners in the Arts. As a growing organization, we will actively take measures to satisfy the performance, competitive quality, and reliability requirements of our students. Our direction is determined cooperatively by our founder, grandmaster of the system, and our student's needs and expectations.
The Academy will take actions to develop the capabilities and resource strengths needed to achieve competitive advantage. Our success will continue to aim at building core competencies and competitive capabilities in one or more activities crucial to our distinctive competence in the Arts. With a mixed martial arts curriculum this requires an ongoing commitment to the student. They have my commitment!
Overall, the teaching methods employed will become a lesson-learned for others to follow in the industry. We support continuous improvement initiatives that nourish our vision and allow us to deliver the finest overall programs of study in the Midwest. Therefore, as we meet other top-rated schools in the industry, and continue to support MAIA, MACS, SKSKI and Black Belt Society organizations, we will put forth our best efforts to learn from those whom have come to recognize the importance of keeping the Arts alive.
Academy objectives
Exceptional customer care
Leadership in quality has top priority and therefore the "Voice of the Customer" will play a major role in further development of the business.
Importance of Quality Instruction
We regard the students of our instruction as “customers” whose needs are important to understand and satisfy. Martial Arts provides the environment to allow each student to bring out the best in them both mentally & physically. There is no greater joy for the student than to see them better themselves as individuals. Success Breeds Success!
Student Involvement
Our policy is to foster a spirit of self-discipline, self respect, positive mental attitude, and provide an atmosphere that allows students to have fun. We will stimulate our students creativity, initiative, and sense of responsibility as they learn the various styles and systems of the Arts. We will teach them to understand that ego has no place in martial arts and that in order to learn, you must keep an open mind.
In essence, we care about each and every student as
we recognize that “struggle is growth and growth is struggle”
System Rank
While we do not regard rank as the most important event to occur in
the student's study of martial arts, we recognize the efforts put
forth by the student and therefore performance objectives are
outlined for each student so that progress can be monitored,
controlled and maintained to ensure the student is on track with
curriculum requirements. In essence, rank is a PRIVILEGE, not a
right, that is EARNED through hard work, right intentions, and
dedication.
Promote Unity in the Arts
Our belief is that all systems of study are important since an
isolated system does not provide the teacher or student with the
ability to adapt to an ever- changing environment. As we
get older, our body dynamics change and we find ourselves limited to
certain physical movements. In an effort to prevent stagnation
in our studies we search out something else that fills a very
important void in our lives. That void can be another style or
system that provides the essential boost. Therefore, we must
keep an open mind! We will need to leave our prejudices (past
and current) at the door in an effort to successfully help promote
unity in the arts. To grow, we need to appreciate our great leaders
of both present and past and acknowledge the essence of their
systems.
Enjoy your journey!
Respectfully,
Sensei David Greco,
